Architectural Appraisal of an Historic Building in North Wales
McCormick were appointed by the Property Services Agency to provide an analysis of the historic structure, an assessment of the condition of the building and the need for repairs, and recommendations regarding the repair, alteration and re-use of the building.
The building was added to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest in 1990 and the list description indicates that the building is a late medieval six bay cruck barn with later extensions. The building is listed Grade II* because it is an important survivor of an early cruck and timber-framed building, and its interior is of special interest in relation to the history of the farm buildings in Wales.
In view of the historic significance of the barn, it was important that any proposed use did not require any alterations which would effect its character.
